For investors, advisors, integration partners
Where the category sits, and where we sit in it.
A serious operator in a category that often isn't. The composition system is the moat. Evidence discipline is the differentiation. Self-hosted privacy is the structural choice. For investors, advisors, and integration partners looking at this space, what we'll share openly — and how to reach us — is below.
01
What this is
Where Soundscaper sits, and where it could go.
Soundscaper is operated by Kenjin, a London company building evidence-disciplined sound-based wellness software. The technical pipeline — intake, safety classification, composition planning, audio composition — runs on Kenjin's own self-hosted servers, not on a third-party AI API. Those servers also hold account state, subscription state, and (while subscribed) hosted master files of the user's own recordings. There is no server-side library to license, no playlist marketplace, no influencer roster. The product surface is the composition system itself.
The defensible position, restated from the stakeholder briefing: we're the only product combining individualised intake-driven composition, evidence-grounded technique selection, a mandatory headphone induction phase, self-hosted privacy (intake parsed by a model Kenjin runs itself, never a third-party AI API), and a vocabulary that spans self-directed wellness and care-for-someone-else use cases. The closest analogues — Endel, Brain.fm, Calm, Headspace, Wavepaths — each occupy one or two of those axes. None occupies all of them.

Where investors are looking
Three convergences shaping the category.
- Mental-health and meaning-crisis evidence is unambiguous. Loneliness, anxiety, sleep disruption, and AI-induced cognitive displacement are at multi-decade highs. The wellness audio category is projected to grow from US$1.6bn to roughly US$7.6bn by 2033.
- The clinical evidence base for music-based intervention has consolidated. Cochrane reviews on dementia, depressive symptoms, and cancer-related symptoms now support music-based listening as effective adjunctive support — with effect sizes that compare favourably to many pharmacological options. The 2025 perioperative binaural-beat meta-analysis (~SMD −1.38) was a notable inflection.
- Self-hosted generative audio has finally become deliverable. The new generation of small open-source language models and a mature open audio toolchain mean a session can be composed for an individual user, on a single self-hosted server, in under a minute — without calling out to a third-party AI API. This wasn't technically tractable two years ago.

What we are not raising
Honest about the position.
We're not a healthtech company. We're not pursuing FDA / MHRA medical-device clearance. We don't make clinical claims that would put us into that regulatory pathway. We're a wellness product with serious evidence discipline. Investment-thesis posture should reflect that.
We're not a content-library product. We don't compete on celebrity narrators or catalogue breadth. There are no tracks to license, no influencers to partner with, no playlist marketplace. The system itself is the surface area.
04
Integrations and channels
Where we're open to conversations.
- Care-home procurement, hospital wellness programmes, NHS social-prescribing pathways. The dementia-comfort and convalescent-care intents take us into territory no consumer wellness audio product currently addresses well. The Cochrane evidence base is strong. The carer market is under-served.
- EEG-in-headphones partnerships for closed-loop adaptive induction. Our headphone induction is currently open-loop — the natural V3 differentiator is closed-loop adaptation tracking actual neural state. Conversations with hardware partners welcome.
- Stem library contributions. The recipe-driven composition system is bottlenecked on stem-library breadth. Composers, sound designers, and field recordists with IP-clean material and published work in adjacent spaces are people we want to talk to.
- Clinical research collaborations. See the clinicians page. We'll share composition manifests, intent-profile schemas, and evidence-tier grading methodology in full where it supports honest research.

Diligence-friendly
What we'll share without an NDA.
The composition pipeline is documented at /approach. Every claim is graded and cited at /science. The safety boundary sits at /safety. Data-handling posture is at /data-policy. Engineering documents — architecture, intent schema, session manifest, evidence-methods — are public on the site repository. Deeper diligence (financial, technical, regulatory) lives behind a brief intro email.

Founder
Who you'd be partnering with.
Soundscaper is founded by a British technologist with multi-year working knowledge of the sound-based wellness category, the music-therapy clinical literature, and the Monroe Institute / Hemi-Sync design lineage. The canonical bio lives on /about. For partnership diligence we'll share track record, prior product work, and a direct introduction on request.
