Field guide

The field guide behind the sound.

A long-form companion to the product. Eight chapters on what sound is doing in the body, what the music-therapy evidence base actually says, the lineage of the headphone induction phase, and the ethics of personalised audio. Coming — but not soon. We'd rather take time over it.

Chapters (provisional)

What the book covers.

01

What sound is doing in the body

The autonomic nervous system, breath, and slow auditory pacing — a non-mystical account of why long-form listening shifts physiological state.

02

The Monroe lineage, with the receipts

The Hemi-Sync / Gateway tradition, the declassified 1983 CIA report, and an honest reading of what the headphone induction phase does, and what it doesn't.

03

What the music-therapy evidence base actually says

Cochrane reviews, dementia comfort, post-operative anxiety, MIDDEL. The clinical literature, summarised for the curious lay reader.

04

Composition as care

Why a composed session is structurally different from a recommended track. The ethics of personalisation, when the personalisation is sound.

05

The contexts of listening

Bedtime, focused rest, active work, care companion. Same body, different listening posture, different acoustic shape.

06

What we won't claim

Solfeggio, “chakra healing”, EEG entrainment as an outcome claim, the Mozart Effect. The category we're not joining.

07

Self-hosted, by design

Privacy as a structural choice, not a marketing claim. Why the language model, planner, and audio all run on Kenjin's own servers — never a third-party AI API.

08

A user's working manual

How to read the wizard. How to choose a context. How to read the live composition visualisation. How to write a useful pre-session reflection.

Chapter list provisional and subject to change. The Approach page covers a fraction of what the book sets out to cover.

Editorial promise

What this book won't be.

It won't be a wellness self-help book. It won't be 280 pages of anecdote with five footnotes. It won't promise that listening to anything will fix anything.

It will be a working reference for people who want to understand the actual mechanism, the actual evidence, and the actual lineage of what they're listening to. It will cite its sources. It will grade what's established, what's emerging, and what's design inspiration only. Same posture as the product — credible by being honest, useful by being specific.

For now, the Approach page is the closest thing.

A summary of how the system works, with the structural differences set out plainly.
