Companion app · iOS · Android
Where the listening actually happens.
Compose on the web. Listen on mobile — soundscapes at full studio-quality FLAC, downloaded for offline play, kept alongside your reflection journal, and free of the watermark that protects unsubscribed playback.
The companion is where the listening — the part the rest of the system exists to support — actually takes place. Phase-aware player, lock-screen controls, background playback, sleep mode, care mode, in-session cue control, three-mode journal. Built for long sessions, not engagement minutes.
Premium playback
Studio-quality FLAC, end to end.
Every soundscape is rendered as a 48 kHz / 24-bit FLAC master. The companion plays that master at full lossless fidelity — no on-device transcoding, no streaming-grade compression, no perceptual artefacts in the headphone induction or the breath-paced amplitude movement. The therapeutic content is doing precise work; the delivery has to keep up.
Free-tier playback in the browser carries an audible Soundscaper watermark — a brief spoken identifier at the close — to mark unsubscribed use. Subscribed playback in the companion app is **fully unwatermarked**: the close tapers to silence as composed, with no voice and no logo.
Offline & flight mode
Download once. Listen anywhere.
Tap a soundscape in your library to download it for offline use. The full FLAC master lives on device until you remove it. Take an 8-hour overnight onto a long-haul flight. Settle a panic spike in airplane mode. Run a full meditation block in a basement studio with no signal. The soundscape plays the same as it does on Wi-Fi.
Storage is yours to manage. Each session shows its file size in the library; long-press to remove what you no longer need. Recordings stay accessible in the cloud for the duration of your subscription plus the 90-day grace period after lapse.
The therapeutic player
Built for long-form listening, not engagement minutes.
Most music players are optimised for browsing, skipping, queuing. The companion player is optimised for the opposite: knowing where you are in a multi-phase composition without watching the screen, then disappearing into the background. Calm play / pause. Phase-aware timeline showing the current sub-phase. Lock-screen controls that don't tempt a skip. Resume across launches.
Sleep mode for sessions that taper to silence — no wake-up; the player stops cleanly when the composition ends. Care mode for sessions delivered to someone you're caring for — larger controls, fewer affordances, same audio. Headphone reminder before induction phases. Safe-volume guidance when device volume is high.
Three-mode journal
The reflection lives next to the listening.
The journal is where listening becomes practice. Three entry modes, each with its own posture:
Pre-session
What you're bringing into the listen — a state, a worry, an intention. Captured before you press play. The recording shows the linked entry on its detail page, so you can read what you wrote going in.
Post-session
What changed during the listen — what you noticed, what shifted, what didn't. Prompted at the end of playback (dismissable). Pairs with the pre-session entry for the same session if one exists.
Standalone
A reflection that isn't tied to a session. Same shape as the others. Body text is the primary input; stress and energy 1–10 sliders sit collapsed behind 'add detail'.
Entries are private to your device unless you opt in to the future Insights surface. Even then, only structured fields (entry type, optional stress / energy values) are aggregated — never the body of your entries. Long-press an entry to delete it with a confirm.
In-session cues
Mid-session and end-of-session chimes — your call, every session.
For sessions of twenty minutes or more, two optional in-session cues are available: a soft in-key tone (the gentle gong) at the midpoint, and a softer, lower-pitched cue five minutes before the close begins. Both are off by default. Switch them on per session in the wizard, or set defaults in Account → Settings.
The cues honour the safety posture in the research backbone: suppressed by default for trauma-aware support areas (panic aftercare, grounding-after-trigger, sleep anxiety, headache-safe decompression, grief and heartbreak); unavailable entirely for sleep-onset, dementia comfort, and sundowning — where a cue would defeat the point.
